Use Your Own ElevenLabs API Key in HyperTTS

Why Use ElevenLabsCustom?

HyperTTS Pro subscribers can use the built-in ElevenLabs integration, but you may want to use your own ElevenLabs API key instead. The ElevenLabsCustom service lets you do exactly that. Here's why you might want to enable it:

• Free character allowance — ElevenLabs offers a free monthly character allowance on their plans. By using your own API key, you can take advantage of this free quota.
• Custom voices — If you've created or cloned custom voices in your ElevenLabs account, they will only be available through your own API key.
• More control — Manage your own usage limits and billing directly through your ElevenLabs account.

Setting this up takes just a few minutes. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Create an API Key on ElevenLabs

First, head over to the ElevenLabs developer console to create a new API key.

1. Go to https://elevenlabs.io/app/developers/api-keys
2. Click the + Create Key button in the top-right area of the API Keys page.

Step 2: Configure API Key Permissions

When the Create API Key dialog appears, give your key a name (for example, hypertts), then set the following permissions. These are the minimum permissions required for HyperTTS to work:

• Text to Speech → set to Access
• Voices → set to Read
• Models → set to Access

Once you've configured the permissions, click Create Key. Copy the API key that is displayed — you'll need it in the next step.

Step 3: Open HyperTTS Services Configuration

In Anki, go to the Tools menu and click HyperTTS: Services Configuration.

Step 4: Enable ElevenLabsCustom and Enter Your API Key

In the Services Configuration window, scroll down to find the ElevenLabsCustom service. Then:

1. Check the Enable checkbox.
2. Paste your ElevenLabs API key into the api_key field.
3. Click Save.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Custom ElevenLabs Voices

That's it! After saving, HyperTTS will load all the voices available on your ElevenLabs account, including any custom or cloned voices you've created. You'll see them listed as ElevenLabsCustom voices in the voice selection panel.
